The close proximity to major metropolitan areas is one of the driving factors for so many multi-national corporations’ and Fortune 500s’ relocation of their headquarters to Fairfield County. Easton, however, is several degrees quieter and more serene than its surrounding communities. Most of the town, in fact, feels like it’s been suspended in time. There are hardly any commercial establishments here and property lots are larger than they are in other nearby communities. Many lots in Easton need to be a minimum of three acres, though there’s a small portion where one-acre lots are allowed. This has helped preserve the town’s bucolic feel, as has the presence of two reservoirs – the Easton and Hemlock reservoirs, making Easton a proud guardian of the region’s drinking water supply. Easton is a thriving community that offers a number of recreational opportunities. It has a very active arts organization, the Easton Arts Council, as well as an Arts Center. The annual Easton Fireman's Carnival is an event run by the Easton Fire Department that occurs every summer.
